WHAT’S ON…

MISSIO IRELAND The month of October is traditionally dedicated to the theme of Mission. Throughout this month we are invited to offer our support to missionaries through our prayer. Today Sunday 19th October has been designated as Mission Sunday. Mission Sunday was established by Pope Pius XI in 1926. On this day parishes worldwide unite in prayer and giving, to help missionaries build churches, train priests, support catechists and serve communities in need. The Mission Sunday collection will be taken up today. All Mission Sunday collections in Ireland are sent to Missio Ireland. Missio Ireland is the Irish branch of the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS), which is the Pope’s official charity for overseas missions and the spread of the faith. Mission Ireland informs Rome how much has been collected and is available for projects in a given year. Missio Ireland then receives projects from PMS Rome that match the amount available. Money is sent directly from Ireland to the Nuncio in the recipient country, and the money is forwarded to the project recipients.

RECHARGE  is a young adult group based in St Colmcille’s Church in East Belfast for 18 to 35 year olds. We meet twice a month to “recharge” our spiritual batteries through prayer, intellectual formation and friendship. All are welcome!
