Pastoral Letter from Bishop Alan:
Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his faithful.
Bishop Alan has issued a pastoral letter in light of the proposed Terminally Ill Adults Bill to be discussed in Parliament on November 29th. He affirms the inherent dignity of human life. that must be upheld and protected. This core belief compels us to firmly reject assisted suicide.
In these challenging times, Bishop Alan encourages us to pray for those who are terminally ill and their families, that they may find comfort and support. We can actively support initiatives that enhance palliative and hospice care services in our local areas. We can also make our voices heard by writing to our Members of Parliament ahead of the upcoming vote and sharing the Church’s teachings on human dignity with clarity and compassion. Copies of Bishop Alan’s pastoral letter are available in the Church. Please take one and do what you can to defend the sanctity of life and ensure the vulnerable are cared for with the utmost dignity.
