Special Envelopes <\/b>There are nine (Green) envelopes or \u2018Special Collections<\/i><\/b>\u2019 taken up during the year. They are as follows:-<\/p>\n
Bishops\u2019 Commissions <\/b>This collection is to assist in financing the many Commissions set up by the Irish Bishops, e.g. the Faith and Justice Commission, The Family Life Commission, Communications, etc.<\/p>\n
Diocesan Cathedral Fund <\/b>Used for the upkeep of St. Peter\u2019s Cathedral.<\/p>\n
Diocesan Pastoral Services <\/b>The Bishop nominates each year the Pastoral Service or activity for which this collection is used.<\/p>\n
Diocesan Youth Commission <\/b>For youth programmes in the Diocese of Down and Connor.<\/p>\n
Education of Diocesan Students <\/b>This collection helps to fund the formation of students studying for the Priesthood in the Diocese of Down and Connor.<\/p>\n
Needy Parishes <\/b>This collection was set up in order that the wealthier parishes in the Diocese can assist those parishes in greater need.<\/p>\n
Peter\u2019s Pence (Pope\u2019s Collection) <\/b>The proceeds are collected on a nationwide basis and given by the Church to the Pope for charitable purposes throughout the world, e.g. natural disasters such as earthquakes, famines, etc.<\/p>\n
Propagation of the Faith <\/b>To help with the promotion of missionary activity throughout the world, especially in the Developing World.<\/p>\n
Sick and Retired Priests <\/b>For all the priests of the Diocese who, because of sickness or age, are no longer in active pastoral ministry…..<\/p>\n
White Weekly Offering <\/b>: General upkeep of the Parish. <\/b><\/p>\n
Green Monthly Offering<\/b>: Upkeep of the Clergy of the Diocese<\/p>\nRemember in Prayer…<\/h1>\n
