LENTEN PLEDGE<\/span><\/strong> Many people choose to abstain from alcohol during the season of Lent. You can do likewise. Please consider taking the short-term\u00a0Pioneer\u00a0Lenten pledge and say the prayer daily. “I promise in honour of the Sacred Heart of Jesus with the help of the Blessed Virgin Mary to abstain from all alcoholic<\/i> drink during Lent.<\/i><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

St Oliver Plunkett Parish Each Thursday during Lent, we will have a 10am Mass. Each Friday in Lent, the Stations of the Cross at 7pm Before 7.30pm Mass<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

St Teresa\u2019s Parish Stations of the Cross every Friday at 9.30am before Mass.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Walking with Jesus along the Via Dolorosa;<\/span>The actual word, \u2018Via Dolorosa\u2019 is Latin for \u2018Sorrowful Way\u2019, commonly translated as \u2018Way of Suffering\u2019. It is traditionally believed to be the route taken by Jesus as he carried the Cross towards Calvary. The Living Church Office has prepared this prayer resource for parish use during Lent over 5 weekly sessions. It will begin in\u00a0St Agnes’ Church on Friday 23rd<\/sup>\u00a0February @ 7pm\u00a0and conclude on\u00a0Friday 22nd<\/sup>\u00a0March, just before the start of Holy Week. Each session will include time for prayer and reflection, Gospel reading, a decade of a scriptural rosary, and a Lenten Mission suggestion. All sessions will be streamed online. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to make this part of their Lenten programme.\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST FOR THE PERMANENT DIACONATE <\/span>The Permanent Deacon responds to the call of Jesus and his Church in three specific ways: through the ministry of Charity, the ministry of the Word and the ministry of the Altar with a particular focus on the ministry of charity. The Diocese invites expressions of interest from men, (married or single), who feel called to the Diaconate. Further relevant information can be found on the Diocesan website https:\/\/www.downandconnor.org\/living-church\/diaconate\/ Additionally, it is proposed to hold three information evenings in St Patrick\u2019s Downpatrick All Saints Ballymena and St Brigid\u2019s Belfast on 7th 12th and 20th March. This will provide an opportunity to meet Permanent Deacons and their wives and discover more about this vocation. It is hoped to commence a propaedeutic year of discernment in September 2024. Expressions of Interest forms will be issued by email to those who have responded to this announcement and the formal application and interview process will commence, with a view to completion in June 2024.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n
