As the ecological crisis worsens our newsfeeds are filled with stories of devastation, particularly in the most vulnerable parts of the world. Creation cries out as forests burn, animals flee, lives are lost and people are forced to migrate. The theme for this year’s Season is inspired by the Prophet Amos who cries out: “Let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream!” (Amos 5: 24). The symbol is that of a ‘mighty river’: “Listen carefully, I am about to do a new thing. I will even put a road in the wilderness, rivers in the desert.” (Isaiah 43:19).
