Season of Creation 1st<\/sup> September \u2013 4th<\/sup> October 2023: \u2018Let Justice and Peace Flow\u2019.<\/em><\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This Season is a wonderful opportunity to respond to the call of Pope Francis to listen to the cry of the earth and the cry of the poor. As the ecological crisis worsens our newsfeeds are filled with stories of devastation, particularly in the most vulnerable parts of the world. Creation cries out as forests burn, animals flee, lives are lost and people are forced to migrate. The theme for this year\u2019s Season is inspired by the Prophet Amos who cries out: \u201cLet justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream!<\/em>\u201d (Amos 5: 24). The symbol is that of a \u2018mighty river\u2019: \u201cListen carefully, I am about to do a new thing. I will even put a road in the wilderness, rivers in the desert.<\/em>\u201d (Isaiah 43:19). As we join the river of justice and peace with others then hope is created instead of despair, \u201cfor we know that things can change!\u201d (Laudato Si\u2019, 13). To mark the closing of the Season of Creation a special Prayer Service will be held in St Agnes\u2019 Church on Wednesday 4 October @ 7pm. Parishioners from the Pastoral Community are welcome to attend.<\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

COFFEE MORNI<\/mark><\/strong>NG<\/strong><\/mark> In aid of Friends of Cancer & Pretty in Pink Breast Cancer Charity will be held on Thursday 5th October in St Agnes Parish Hall after 10am Mass. Everyone welcome.<\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Catholic Chaplaincy QUB reopening at temporary premises <\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Catholic Chaplaincy at Queen\u2019s University Belfast reopens for the new academic year on Monday 18 September at No. 42 University Road. There you will find a Chapel, social space and our much-loved Mosaic Caf\u00e9, open 8.30am to 8.30pm weekdays during term.  Sunday Masses take place at 8pm in the Canada Room of the University\u2019s Lanyon Building (from Sunday 24 September) and weekday Masses in the Chaplaincy at No.42 (from Monday 25 September).  We look forward to welcoming new and returning students! <\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

YOUTH 2000<\/mark> <\/em><\/strong>The next Youth 2000 Ulster retreat will be taking place in the beautiful and tranquil surroundings of Lough Derg, Co. Donegal between 29th of September to the 1st of  October. PAUSE FOR HOPE SERVICE OF PRAYER <\/mark> Bringing together in prayer:  those who have or have had cancer and, their loved ones and, those who care for them, doctors and nurses, those with special skills involved in the investigation and treatment of cancer, those in authority who have responsibility for providing resources our scientists trying to find the cure. Clonard Monastery, Belfast Sunday, October 22, 2023 \u2013 3.30pm.  It is our hope that by coming together all will experience a sense of peace and hope in the midst of the difficulties of coping with a serious illness.<\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Peace Day 2023\u00a0<\/strong>–<\/mark> Thursday 21 September 7-8.30pm in St Anne\u2019s Cathedral. To mark the global celebration of UN Peace Day, and Good Relations Week, internationally acclaimed singer-songwriter Tommy Sands will headline a variety of musicians and speakers from different cultures and religions, including two young singers from Ukraine. Other contributions from Imam Jamal Iweida of Dunmurry Iqraa Mosque, victims\u2019 campaigner Jude Whyte, and a guided silent global reflection on becoming peacemakers. The evening will be hosted by Jude Hill-Mitchell, formerly of UTV. Light refreshments after. Everyone is welcome!\u00a0<\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

LEGION OF MARY<\/mark><\/strong> <\/strong>And the Knights of Columbanus <\/mark>invite you to take part in Our Lady\u2019s Rosary Festival from 30th Sep to 8th Oct with 7 events in different venues, including retreat for mothers, St Michael\u2019s Camino, holy hour with a confession crusade, first Fridays and Saturday\u2019s devotions, talk and Q&A with Fr John Harris ( Irish Provincial), Catholic Organisations\u2019 Fair and much more. The Festival ends with the 20th Annual Rosary Procession from St John\u2019s to St Peter\u2019s Cathedral commencing at 2.30pm.
