MISSION MONTH Today is World Mission Sunday! Today we come together for a truly incredible celebration of solidarity and unity within our Church – World Mission Sunday! Today, every single parish worldwide – and YOU – share what you can so the life-transforming work of missionaries overseas can continue. Today, through your prayers and contributions, you are fully appreciating the dedication of our missionaries who live and work in communities that are struggling and often war-torn. Your prayers and generosity are helping spread the peace and love of Christ. If you have already given, we send our heartfelt thanks. If you have yet to give, please dig a little deeper and share what you can. Thank you

CANONISATION Last Sunday, at a ceremony in Rome, Pope Francis officially recognised the sainthood of Oscar Romero, Archbishop of San Salvador. It is a fitting tribute to an extraordinary man, whose life still influences the work of Trōcaire and similar organisations working for human rights around the world. Romero spoke out against poverty, social injustice, assassinations, and torture. In 1980, he was assassinated while offering Mass in the chapel of the Hospital of Divine Providence. “It is not God’s will for some to have everything and others to have nothing”. Bl. Oscar Romero
